Part Two: Going Out on the Town
|
The Bleeding Horse |
Once Alana and I got back from the store, we all decided to go out and explore. We went down the main street that would take us toward the town centre. It takes about 30 minutes walking to get to the river and the 'centre', so we decided to break it up by stopping in a pub. The Bleeding Horse was a really cute pub, and we sat at the bar and got some drinks. Alana and Kevin are much more experienced drinkers than me, and they drink a lot more, so it is going to take a lot of getting used to. As we drank we talked to the bartender, Larry, about Dublin and places in Ireland that we should go to. He had a lot of good advice, and it was fun. Eventually we noticed a group of people walk in. The girls were wearing nice clothes and the guys work suits, but the strange part was the woman holding a camera. They began setting up and acting out little scenes. It was so strange, and Alana leaned over to one of the women and asked her what was going on. Apparently they were shooting scenes that were going to be used a promotional or something for a play and these were the actors. They were really funny and Alana talked to them a bit. At one point they asked her if they could film her slapping one of the actors, legitimately slap him, not just a stage slap. She did it, and they filmed a few takes. Before they left we got their information for the play; it is called the Boyz of Harcourt Street, and although he have no idea what it is about we are going to go see it in July.

Dame Street |
After leaving that pub we headed toward Dame Street which is one of the main streets with stores and restaurants. It is pretty nice, with lots of cute little places and a few grand looking buildings. When we got hungry we went into a pub called the Turk's Head. The inside was decorated with crazy mosaics, sort of like the work of Antonio Gaudi in Barcelona. I got a salad with goat cheese and it was delicious. Once we had out fill we made our way back to the flat. It was nearly eleven by the time we got back and I went straight to sleep. It was glorious.
Side Note: I found out where I will be having my internship for six weeks. It is at a company that converts old photos and video into digital, and they also do research for people's family trees and stuff like that. I do not know much about them, but I believe I have an interview with them next week. Before my internship I have two weeks of class and then the six week internship after that is basically done.
